YOUNG WOMEN
Youth Camp Leader (YCL) Information
Young women who are sophomores and juniors this current school year (2025-2026) may serve as youth camp leaders. Seniors are welcome to serve as a leader in their home ward. Their responsibilities should be meaningful and appropriate for their experience, skills, and training. Serving others will help them build leadership skills and strengthen their testimonies.
Youth camp leaders should:
â– Receive leadership training before camp.
â– Provide a positive example for younger girls.
â– Serve as teachers and trainers at camp.
â– Help include everyone.
â– Help evaluate camp.
YCL Responsibilities:
â– Develop Christ-like leadership.
â– Spiritually prepare yourself before camp.
â– Attend all YCL group meetings, both pre-camp and at camp.
â– Set an example and be a role model for the younger campers.
â– Express positive support for all camp leaders and the program.
â– Develop caring relationships with the Young Women and adult leaders.
â– Help the Young Women draw closer to God.
â– Help the Young Women appreciate and feel a reverence for nature.
â– Help the Young Women become more self-reliant.
â– Responsible for the well-being and activities of the Young Women you serve; make sure no one is left out.
â– Get to know all the Young Women closely.
â– Be sensitive to girls who may feel homesick, left out, or restless.
â– Talk about positive and uplifting things during the week. Don’t share inappropriate jokes or inappropriate personal stories. Refrain from gossiping or put-downs.
â– Be a role model: project a positive and FUN attitude!
